Yasmine Sleimane

Yasmine, 27 years old, from Syria living in Lebanon since 2014. Master’s in History with the support of a HOPES scholarship funded by the EU through the ‘EU Madad Fund’ at the Lebanese University

“My family consists of ten members. I live with my brother’s family because both my father and my mother passed away. Despite my financial difficulties, harsh circumstances and frustration, I held on to my studies in History and persevered to obtain good grades during my first year of university. I plan and aspire to fulfil my dream to obtain a doctorate and to leave an impact on the society. I chose the field of History because I love teaching and history. HOPES program provided me with financial and moral support. To other students I would say to stay patient, make efforts and overcome the challenges to reach your goals.”
